3 Held in Eastside crack bust

It got a little bit less easy to score some crack in Naptown yesterday...

Confidential informants and an undercover officer bought small amounts of the drug 13 times inside the Frosty Mug during an investigation that ran from January through earlier this month, according to charging documents filed today in Marion Superior Court. Prosecutors said neighbors’ suspicions prompted the investigation of the bar, 3802 E. New York St., which no longer is operating.

Police arrested the Frosty Mug’s owner, Rhonda Vela, 40; the manager, Kiyonia Vance, 36, who also lived in an adjacent apartment; and Juan Zabala, 36, who prosecutors say is Vela’s boyfriend. Zabala is being held in Marion County Jail on $150,000 bond. Bond was set at $50,000 for Vance and $15,000 for Vela.
